Prior to joining industry, Steve enjoyed an 8-year academic career and was an NIH- and privately-funded primary investigator who served on the Pediatrics and Child Neurology faculty at Baylor/Texas Children’s, Case Western/Rainbow Babies and the University of Pittsburgh/UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, three world-renowned children’s hospitals. He has authored over 35 scientific articles, reviews and book chapters, and Steve is a recipient of the Child Neurology Society’s Young Investigator award. He is internationally recognized for his lab’s research in auditory and somatosensory development.
Steve obtained his MD and PhD (neuroscience) degrees from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He then completed general pediatrics training at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital (also in Cleveland), followed by child neurology fellowship training and post-doctoral work studying the genetic control of brain development at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.
